This position reports to the Chief Claims Officer of our client and holds executive responsibility for the full claims oversight of the Company’s Program business, including Commercial Property and Auto Dealer Open Lot. The role also provides executive leadership for our client’s appraisal unit, which delivers appraisal and estimating services to the Company and program clients.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Our client delivers individually tailored, full claims services and multi‑line program claims management. The Head of Property is the senior executive responsible for strategic leadership, operational oversight, and overall performance of the Company’s property claims and appraisal operations.

Under the general direction of executive leadership, this role establishes the vision and strategic direction for claims operations, ensuring the consistent application of best‑in‑class claim practices. The position leads senior claims management to drive high‑quality, cost‑effective, and compliant claims outcomes. This role also maintains full accountability for delivering claims services with commitment to superior customer service, operational excellence, and effective, timely claim resolution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure compliance with program reporting requirements.
  • Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for property claims and Dealer Open Lot operations, including complex, high‑exposure claims.
  • Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for appraisal operations.
  • Ensure all claims are investigated, evaluated, and resolved in full compliance with applicable state laws, regulations, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Directly manage, mentor, and hold accountable leaders responsible for claims and appraisal services.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of high‑quality Claim Summary Reports and documentation standards.
  • Establish, implement, and enforce claims policies, procedures, workflows, and governance standards aligned with company and policy requirements.
  • Design and implement training, development, succession planning, and career‑pathing initiatives.
  • Oversee staffing strategies, workforce planning, and retention programs to support scalability and continuity.
  • Establish, maintain and update CAT management plan to properly handle claims.
  • Foster a performance‑driven, professional culture aligned with business results and service excellence.
  • Promote and enforce Claim Best Practices that drive consistent claims handling with a focus on customer service.
  • Leverage data, reporting, and technology to identify trends, cost drivers, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain accountability for claims operational budgets, productivity, inventory management, and loss adjustment expense.
  • Oversee audits, quality reviews, and corrective action plans to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Lead effective subrogation and salvage strategies to optimize recovery outcomes.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for significant claims issues, client concerns, and regulatory matters.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, carriers, agents, regulators, attorneys, and business partners.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with underwriting, legal, finance, and executive leadership to advance company objectives.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Possible domestic and international travel required.
EXPERIENCE:
  • 15+ years of commercial claims experience.
  • 7+ years of senior leadership experience managing managers and multi-level claims organizations.
  • Extensive experience with Auto Material Damage, Property, Subrogation, Salvage and Appraisal processes.
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale claims operations with measurable performance improvements.
EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree or professional designations such as CPCU, AIC, ARM, or similar desirable but not required.

SKILLS:
  • Executive leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making capability.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and operational expenses.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop senior leaders and teams.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels.
  • Proficiency with claims systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
