Shipping and Receiving Manager

We are seeking a detail-oriented Warehousing and Logistics Manager to oversee all aspects of inbound, outbound, and inter‑plant logistics, ensuring the accurate and efficient movement of products and materials through the facility and our customer project locations. This role is responsible for leading a team of shipping and receiving team members, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement. The manager should be highly analytical, well‑organized, comfortable with technology, and have a strong understanding of shipping, receiving, and import procedures.

We are looking for a shipping and receiving manager who can manage inbound, outbound, and inter‑plant logistics operations, maintain inventory integrity, coordinate across internal teams, and continually drive process improvements through Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen techniques. The manager will develop and maintain SOPs, oversee cycle counting and FIFO systems, and lead initiatives to optimize ERP usage and reduce non‑value‑added movements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee warehousing, shipping, and receiving operations, ensuring inventory integrity, material flow, regulatory compliance, and on‑time execution across all inbound and outbound logistics.
  • Oversee warehouse scheduling, workflow optimization, inventory accuracy, and exception management.
  • Coordinate across multiple internal teams (Receiving, Shipping, Trucking, Customer Service, Billing, IT/WMS) to ensure SLA performance and service consistency.
  • Serve as the primary client‑facing leader, handling communication, requirements, escalations, and customized logistics solutions.
  • Manage and maintain periodic cycle counting, FIFO traceability, ABC classification, and overall inventory management.
  • Develop robust staging processes for work orders and kitting, ensuring materials are delivered fully prepared and labeled to reduce downtime.
  • Create safe working environment procedures for forklifts, stand‑up lifts, and stackers; manage a clean workplace using Lean and 5S; manage a fleet of material handling equipment.
  • Oversee outbound packaging, freight scheduling, and carrier relationships to ensure on‑time, damage‑free delivery of finished goods.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement, and Quality to ensure material readiness and resolve supply issues before they impact production.
  • Establish cycle time baselines for receiving, shipping, material staging, and issues; lead initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to enhance ERP usage and reduce non‑value‑added movements.
  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, implement continuous improvements, and monitor operational KPIs/SLA.
  • Coordinate with procurement to ensure availability of raw materials.
  • Train, supervise, and develop the operations team; build and optimize SOPs to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Conduct multi‑site capacity assessments and storage sizing studies; present analysis‑backed space‑needs recommendations to senior leadership.
Qualifications
  • Must be very flexible with shift start times as well as days worked, including weekends and holidays.
  • 5+ years of management and leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to train, coach, and mentor warehouse associates.
  • Strong organization and prioritizing skills.
  • Ability to make decisions, problem‑solve, prioritize assignments, and direct the workforce in an ever‑changing warehouse environment.
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field (Master’s preferred but not required).
  • 5+ years of experience in warehouse design, layout planning, operations, or similar fields.
  • System proficiency:
    Proficient in ERP systems and inventory management tools; ability to analyze and act on KPI dashboards.
