Supervisory Social Worker
The Supervisory Social Worker provides supervision to a group of employees performing work at various GS levels up to their own grade and provides administrative, technical, and clinical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the program and service. Incumbent may maintain a clinical practice caseload depending on workload in the assigned area.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Provides direct supervision of subordinates and directs the work of staff.
- Evaluates staff under direct supervision and provides consultation on work related issues.
- Uses diplomatic skills when dealing with other services while holding them accountable to program requirements.
- Manages conflict and utilizes negotiation skills to maintain productive work relationships with other disciplines in delineation of roles and adapting a team approach to effective patient care.
- Maintains a positive and functional working relationship with other health care providers.
- Ensures adequate program coverage and makes changes accordingly.
- Ensures that work is completed in a timely manner and reflects quality documentation in accordance with Service, Medical Center, VA, Joint Commission, and other accreditation bodies, or program standards.
- Ensures that services provided are compliant with all regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to the population served and monitors medical center performance related to the population served.
- Develops and maintains treatment and documentation standards that meet the expectations and requirements of Joint Commission, CARF accreditation, and/or other accrediting bodies, as applicable.
- Assures that staff are competent to perform duties; needed training is completed; quality services are provided; and that documentation is accurate.
- Provides but will ensure that Case Management is provided to Veterans requiring substantial communication skills, organizational skills, problem solving and time management.
- Ensures that all staff utilize various counseling approaches to include, but not limited to, conflict resolution, anger management and effective/healthy coping skills.
- Provides individual and group counseling services, including short-term solution-focused psychotherapy and family services, based on licensure and scope of practice.

Pay:
Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Parental Leave:
After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy:
After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66
Retirement:
Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.
