The Director of Landscaping is responsible for providing daily leadership and oversight of all grounds maintenance and landscaping operations across Dallas Baptist University properties, ensuring that the campus remains safe, functional, and visually appealing for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position supervises the Landscaping Department, including the planning, coordination, and evaluation of departmental personnel and activities. Oversees landscape maintenance programs, irrigation systems, tree and plant care, seasonal beautification projects, and campus enhancement initiatives while managing resources, equipment, and budgets effectively.

Additionally, the Director collaborates with Facilities Management and other university departments to support campus events, construction projects, and long-term campus development goals, reflecting DBU's commitment to excellence, stewardship, and providing a welcoming environment that supports the University's mission.

The Director of Landscaping must have a degree or equivalent certifications in the field of landscaping as deemed necessary to perform basic requirements of position. Must hold state licenses required to supervise irrigation installation and pesticide application. Experience developing and managing department operating and capital budgets. Knowledge of irrigation systems, landscape design principles, stormwater management, and preventative maintenance practices. Experience managing outside contractors, vendor relationships, and service agreements.

Must maintain all state-required licenses and certifications related to irrigation, pesticide application, and landscape operations. Demonstrated knowledge of arboretum standards, tree preservation practices, plant collection stewardship, and long-term landscape sustainability. Experience overseeing landscapes that support institutional, educational, conservation, or arboretum objectives. Experience supporting or maintaining an accredited arboretum, botanical garden, university campus landscape program, or similar managed landscape environment. Knowledge of tree inventory systems, plant documentation, arboricultural best practices, and campus tree management planning.

Manage all grounds maintenance and landscaping on the DBU main campus, the Hexter Property addition, the adopted highway landscape in accordance with the Momentum Dallas Project, the Hurst campus, and the Mt. Lebanon Hospitality Home lot. Maintain landscape standards that enhance campus appearance, functionality, safety, and visitor experience. Oversee seasonal landscape improvements and campus beautification initiatives. Supervise the Landscaping Department employees, set daily department agenda and tasks.

Forecast staffing, equipment, material, irrigation, and landscape needs. Evaluate expenditures and identify opportunities for operational efficiency and cost savings. Direct maintenance and operation of irrigation systems, grounds equipment, vehicles, and related infrastructure. Oversee tree management, planting initiatives, and long-term landscape preservation planning. Carry out project requests from the Assistant Vice President for Administrative Affairs or the Senior Vice President.

Regular hours between 8:00 a.m.

- 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, but regularly flexible hours will be required. This position will work on the main campus, located at 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.

Must be a Christian who is a member of a church that holds Jesus Christ to be their Lord and Savior, and who holds solely the Old Testament and the New Testament as sacred Scriptures. DBU requires employees to follow all University policies and procedures, which exist to support the Christian mission of DBU and includes, but is not limited to, a Christian Code of Conduct.

Must have prior managerial supervisory experience.
