Senior MRP Planner

The Electro Optical Infrared Systems (EOIS) line of business within DRS has locations in Dallas and Austin, TX, Melbourne, FL, and Cypress, CA. EOIS develops, manufactures, and supports infrared and electro‑optical solutions for soldiers, ground vehicles and airborne platforms. Job Summary

You’ll work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Program teams to plan materials, manage BOMs and MRP data, support prototype and pilot builds, and help keep production moving from kickoff through shipment. We’re looking for someone with strong material planning and procurement experience, solid ERP/MRP skills, and a proactive, organized approach in a fast‑paced environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Partner with Engineering to develop and manage Bills of Material (BOMs) for new products, including coordinating and incorporating engineering changes and ensuring accurate part setup in MRP.
  • Plan and procure materials for engineering builds, prototypes, pilot production, and early manufacturing, including identifying long‑lead or high‑risk items and developing mitigation plans.
  • Create and execute the Master Production Schedule (MPS) based on production capacity, material availability, and program requirements.
  • Maintain accurate planning data, including make/buy decisions, lead times, order modifiers, attrition and yield factors, and other key MRP parameters.
  • Collaborate with Contracts, Program Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to support the Internal Operating Plan (IOP).
  • Monitor material readiness, anticipate risks, and drive proactive resolution of shortages or delays.
  • Coordinate requisitions, purchase orders, and supplier deliveries to meet program timelines.
  • Support manufacturing by ensuring smooth material flow from production through packaging and shipment.
  • Participate in program reviews, communicating material status, risks, and readiness to stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within material planning processes, tools, and workflows.
  • Execute program/job closeout activities, including disposition of requisitions, purchase orders, and remaining inventory.
  • Uphold and promote the company’s mission, values, and culture.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years supply and demand/procurement experience.
  • 5+ years experience in material planning.
  • 3+ years of ERP/MRP systems, including BOMs and multi‑level BOMs.
  • Experienced in new development programs.
  • Solid understanding of business processes and functional inter‑relationships.
  • Background in project material management.
  • Understanding of production planning.
  • Skilled in the use of Excel, Excel Pivot Tables, Power Point, Word, and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of prototype builds, pilot production, and product launch planning.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement or Lean principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
