summary:

the padder is responsible for applying foam and soft padding to wood frames using water-based adhesives, staple guns, and various hand tools. Reporting to the wood shop supervisor or assistant supervisor, this role plays a key part in the upholstery preparation process and requires consistent attention to detail in a production environment.

primary responsibilities:

• receive frames from the framing department.

• apply foam and padding to ensure complete coverage of each frame.

• operate hand tools, staple guns, nail guns, and spray guns as required.

• identify and report any rejected or defective parts.

• maintain a clean and organized workspace.

knowledge, skills & abilities:

• skilled in using hand and power tools, including staple, nail, and spray guns.

• ability to work independently and adapt to changing production schedules.

• collaborative mindset for cross-departmental teamwork.

• strong attention to detail and quality.

• comfortable working in varying temperature environments.

• able to meet strict production deadlines.

• capable of lifting at least 30 lbs.

• must follow all safety protocols and use required ppe.

effort & physical requirements:

• continuous standing for up to 8 hours per shift.

• frequent lifting, turning, bending, pushing, leaning, and twisting throughout the shift.

minimum requirements:

• at least six months of production experience.

• ability to read and interpret diagrams and technical drawings.
