The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating powered industrial equipment to move raw materials, finished goods, and inventory throughout the facility. This position supports warehouse and production operations by ensuring accurate material handling, staging, loading, and inventory control in a fast-paced food production environment. Similar Lancaster-area forklift positions emphasize safety, inventory accuracy, and production support.
Responsibilities- Operate sit-down, stand-up, reach truck, pallet jack, or clamp forklifts safely and efficiently
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, and warehouse inventory
- Transport raw materials and finished products to designated production and storage areas
- Stage products for shipment and assist with order fulfillment
- Utilize RF scanners and warehouse management systems (WMS) for inventory tracking
- Perform daily forklift inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns
- Maintain clean and organized warehouse and dock areas
- Follow all OSHA, GMP, food safety, and company safety standards
- Assist with cycle counts, inventory audits, and stock rotation
- Support warehouse, production, and shipping teams as needed
- Work overtime and flexible schedules when required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous forklift experience required
- Forklift certification preferred or ability to become certified
- Experience in warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or food production environments preferred
- Basic computer and RF scanner knowledge preferred
- Strong attention to detail and safety procedures
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and reach for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in refrigerated, freezer, or varying temperature environments
- Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment during entire shifts
- Food manufacturing or cold storage experience
- Reach truck or stand-up forklift experience
- Experience with inventory systems and shipping processes
- Familiarity with GMP and food safety regulations
- Fast-paced warehouse and food production facility
- Exposure to refrigerated storage areas and industrial equipment
- Noise levels may vary depending on production activity
- PPE required, including safety shoes and other protective equipment
