Job Summary
The Production Planner supports production schedules and materials in a high mix / low volume manufacturing environment, including prototype and specialized custom TE module builds. This role works with a cross‑functional team including engineering, customer service, purchasing, finance, manufacturing, and shipping/receiving to support daily planning activities. The Production Planner assists in executing production planning processes, including work order generation, BOM validation, and serves as a key link between manufacturing, engineering, customer service, and purchasing.
This role also supports the review and reporting of manufacturing performance metrics and contributes to overall production planning operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Generate and release work orders and maintain production schedules in the MRP system.
- Support production planning activities including schedule updates, material tracking, and inventory monitoring.
- Review and maintain BOM accuracy and support implementation of engineering changes (ECOs).
- Monitor production status, material availability, and assist in resolving shortages.
- Generate and maintain planning, inventory, and production reports.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, and customer service to support production flow.
- Monitor manufacturing yields, lead time, safety stock, shrink %, and work order variance.
- Facilitate communication of, and resolution to, PO and material issues in Vietnam.
- Review production status and capacity issues with the manufacturing supervisor.
- Update on time deliveries, misses, and reasons.
- 0‑3 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, supply chain, or a manufacturing environment.
- Associate’s degree required; BA/BS in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred and required.
- Strong organizational and attention to detail skills.
- Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross‑functional team environment.
- Basic understanding of MRP/ERP systems (Oracle experience a plus).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard office tools.
- Work with a high standard of ethics, professionalism, and competency.
- Self‑motivated with good time‑management skills.
- Normal office environment with frequent interaction with manufacturing areas.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑mix/low‑volume production environment.
- Remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
- Operate a computer and standard office equipment.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with team members.
- Follow site EHS procedures and corporate EHS standards, including the use of PPE as required by job responsibilities.
- Depending on location, responsible for the execution and maintenance of ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and other applicable quality and environmental standards within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
