PurposeAssist in setting up and operating thermoplastic extruders and associated production equipment to convert plastic resins into blown film for flexible plastic sheeting, tubing or bags. Perform manufacturing operations to efficiently produce a flexible product on time that meets all customer product specifications.
Responsibilities- Follow Amcor Safety policies.
- Review Production Order Form specifications to ensure correct equipment, packaging supplies, and raw materials are available.
- Assist in performing equipment production setup under the direction of the Lead Operator.
- Set up and control extruder, die, tower, treater stations, in-line bag machines, winders, post gusseter, folder, in-line press, and separator to achieve film dimensions and characteristics.
- Periodically observe and inspect finished film; take corrective action if substandard product is detected.
- Under direction of the Lead Operator, train team members in operating procedures, safety, and quality policy procedures.
- Monitor production equipment to ensure proper operation and perform routine maintenance under the supervision of the Lead Operator.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Basic math skills.
- Solid computer skills.
- Good English skills; bilingual a plus (Spanish, Vietnamese).
- Experience with blown film extrusion.
- 2-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with extrusion experience preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot & solve problems.
- Ability to provide guidance and leadership.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Must be punctual; at line on time.
- Must be able to understand plastic weight, bag count, and footage formulas.
- Must be able to read a tape measure.
- Must be able to understand customer specifications in the Production Order Form and produce finished flexible product that meets all specifications.
- Regularly required to stand, walk and communicate.
- Ability to see and hear.
- Regularly required to move up to 35 lbs.
- Must regularly lift, twist, prop up, and handle objects up to 35 lbs.
- Must frequently climb towers up to 35 feet high (no fear of heights).
- Regularly required to climb or balance.
