The candidate will play a key role within the Manufacturing Engineering team, supporting production operations by designing tools and fixtures, optimizing manufacturing processes, and ensuring a smooth and efficient production flow. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on problem-solving, CAD design, and leading continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor.

The company is a rapidly growing industry leader in the design, manufacture, and assembly of electrical controls, electrical enclosures, irrigation pumps and controls, municipal and commercial pump stations, water purification systems, and design-to-order metal fabrications, serving diverse industries such as water pumping, oil production and refining, wastewater treatment, and conveying and baggage handling.

Responsibilities

+ Design and optimize production flow, tools, jigs, and fixtures using 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, Solid Works, NX, or equivalent applications.

+ Develop and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including detailed drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and clear assembly instructions.

+ Collaborate closely with production and maintenance teams to prototype, test, and implement tooling and process solutions that improve manufacturing performance.

+ Identify, plan, and execute process improvement projects to increase throughput, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.

+ Provide timely technical support to production teams by troubleshooting manufacturing process and equipment issues as they arise.

+ Participate in root cause analysis activities and implement effective corrective and preventive actions to address recurring problems.

+ Support new product introduction by developing tooling, workflows, and manufacturing processes for new parts and assemblies.

+ Assist in maintaining and improving process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and clarity.

+ Apply Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies to optimize processes and workflows.

+ Contribute to cross-functional teamwork by sharing insights, collaborating on solutions, and supporting manufacturing engineering initiatives.

Essential Skills

+ Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

+ Experience working as a manufacturing or mechanical engineer, with hands-on involvement in production environments.

+ Proficiency in 3D CAD design and drafting, ideally with experience in AutoCAD, Solid Works, NX, or similar software tools.

+ Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, assembly, sheet metal fabrication, or composite manufacturing.

+ Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles, process optimization techniques, and continuous improvement tools.

+ Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), design for manufacturability (DFM), and design for assembly (DFA).

+ Demonstrated ability to design fixtures, tools, and jigs for manufacturing equipment and production lines.

+ Experience troubleshooting manufacturing processes and automated industrial manufacturing equipment.

+ Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with a structured approach to identifying and resolving issues.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information.

+ Team-oriented mindset and ability to work effectively across functions, including production, maintenance, and engineering.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Familiarity with panel assembly, metal fabrication, or electro-mechanical system builds.

+

Experience with automation technologies, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), or manufacturing execution systems (MES).

+ Certifications such as Six Sigma Green Belt, Project Management Professional (PMP), or Lean Practitioner.

+ Experience working with automated industrial manufacturing equipment in a high-mix or custom-product environment.

+ Background in industries such as water pumping, oil production and refining controls, wastewater treatment, conveying systems, or baggage handling is beneficial.

Work Environment

The role is based in an office environment with regular time spent on the factory floor collaborating directly with the manufacturing team. The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule with a 40-hour work week and a flexible start time between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. The work involves frequent interaction with production equipment, tooling, and automated industrial manufacturing systems, requiring comfort in both engineering office settings and active shop floor environments.

The culture emphasizes diversity, innovation, and continuous improvement, encouraging collaboration, hands-on problem solving, and ongoing professional development.
