Industrial Sales, Manufacturing Engineer, Estimator
Kenney Industries is a contract manufacturer serving customers across a range of industries with precision machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly - all under one roof. We're growing, and we're looking for an Estimator & Customer Account Representative to quote new work accurately and be the trusted point of contact our customers count on.
This is a dual role: part cost estimator, part relationship manager. You'll turn drawings and RFQs into competitive, profitable quotes, then carry those accounts through the order - keeping customers informed and coming back.
What You'll Do- Quote work: Review customer drawings, models, and RFQs to prepare accurate cost estimates for machined, fabricated, welded, and assembled parts.
- Cost it out: Determine material, labor, machine time, tooling, outside processing, and finishing costs and build competitive, profitable quotes.
- Own the account: Serve as the primary contact for assigned accounts - answering questions, providing lead times and status updates, and building long-term relationships.
- Coordinate internally: Work with shop-floor supervisors, purchasing, and engineering to confirm feasibility, capacity, and pricing before quotes go out.
- Keep it moving: Enter and track quotes, orders, and revisions in the ERP/quoting system and follow up on open opportunities.
- Protect margin: Review purchase orders against quotes and flag discrepancies before jobs release to the floor.
- Experience: 3–6 years of estimating, inside sales, or customer account experience in a machine shop, sheet metal, fabrication, or contract manufacturing environment.
- Blueprints: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
- Process know-how: Working knowledge of machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly processes and how they drive cost.
- Numbers & systems: Strong math and analytical skills, comfortable with quoting tools, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
- Communication: Professional, responsive, and comfortable managing customer expectations - including tough conversations - with composure.
- Follow-through: Organized, detail-oriented, and able to juggle multiple quotes and accounts against deadlines.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (Solid Works, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or other quality-system requirements.
- Prior experience quoting a mix of low-volume/high-mix and production work.
- A stable, growing shop with machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly all in-house - no two days the same.
- Direct impact: your quotes and relationships drive the business.
- Competitive pay depending on experience, plus benefits.
- A team that values accuracy, hustle, and treating customers right.
Health insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, and retirement plan options.
