Job Summary

The Press Brake Operator sets up and operates CNC press brake equipment to form sheet metal components according to drawings, setup plans, and production requirements. This position is responsible for installing tooling, adjusting machine settings, inspecting finished parts, and maintaining safe, accurate, and efficient production.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC press brake equipment, including Trumpf machines, to form sheet metal components according to drawings, work orders, and setup plans.
  • Select, install, and verify the correct tooling and machine settings for each job.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, bend drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and production instructions.
  • Measure and inspect parts using tape measures, calipers, protractors, angle gauges, and other measuring tools.
  • Make angle, back-gauge, and machine adjustments as needed to maintain required dimensions and quality standards.
  • Complete first-piece and in-process inspections; identify, segregate, and report nonconforming parts.
  • Handle, stage, and move raw materials and finished parts safely, including lifting materials weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Maintain accurate production information and promptly communicate equipment, tooling, quality, or material concerns to the supervisor.
  • Keep the work area and equipment clean and organized, follow all PPE and safety requirements, and assist with other machines or production tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Previous experience setting up or operating a press brake, preferably CNC-controlled equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, setup plans, work instructions, safety rules, and quality requirements.
  • Working knowledge of basic shop math, angles, fractions, decimals, and metric measurements.
  • Ability to use common measuring tools and make basic angle or machine corrections to produce conforming parts.
  • Ability to stand and move for most of the shift, lift up to 60 pounds, work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment, and work overtime when production needs require it.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience operating Trumpf press brake equipment.
  • Experience independently completing tooling changes, machine setup, program selection, and production adjustments.
  • Experience in a custom, high-mix, or design-to-order metal fabrication environment.
  • Familiarity with first-piece inspection, ISO 9001 quality practices, lean manufacturing, or 5S standards.
