1st Shift Material Handler

The 1st Shift Material Handler is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations by accurately pulling materials, delivering inventory to production lines, maintaining inventory accuracy through cycle counting, and unloading incoming shipments. This position plays a critical role in ensuring materials are available to support the production of windows in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Material Handler must follow all safety procedures, maintain accurate inventory transactions, and work effectively with Production, Shipping, Receiving, and Warehouse teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload, inspect, and stage incoming materials and shipments.
  • Move raw materials, components, and finished products throughout the manufacturing facility using material handling equipment.
  • Stock production lines and workstations to ensure continuous workflow and prevent production delays.
  • Maintain accurate inventory by tracking, organizing, and replenishing materials as needed.
  • Support shipping and receiving operations, including material verification and documentation.
  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, and other material handling equipment when authorized.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Identify and report safety hazards, inventory discrepancies, equipment issues, or quality concerns.
  • Prioritize multiple tasks and adjust to changing production demands throughout the shift.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with production, shipping, receiving, and supervisory teams to meet operational goals.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and efficient work areas using good housekeeping practices.
  • Assist with cycle counts, inventory audits, and warehouse organization initiatives.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in work schedules, including overtime and shift adjustments when required.
  • Perform other material handling and warehouse-related duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment preferred.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment with exposure to seasonal temperature changes.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials throughout a shift.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime and adjusted start/end times as production demands require.
  • Basic reading, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow work instructions, safety procedures, and quality standards.
  • Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, or other material handling equipment.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to become certified.
  • Experience using inventory systems, handheld scanners, or warehouse management software.
  • Experience supporting production operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
