The SPCA of Texas is accepting Court Appointed Community Service volunteers for non-animal handling tasks.
Please only sign up for 1 shift. Our Volunteer Team will then contact you to help get you officially scheduled. Please do not come to the shelter until you have been contacted & scheduled.
The SPCA of Texas is currently open to Court Ordered Community Service (CCS) volunteers at our Dallas (2400 Lone Star Dr., Dallas, TX 75212) location. CCS volunteers must be a minimum of 10 years old and will exclusively perform non-animal handling tasks. For volunteers under 15, participation alongside a parent or guardian, aged 18 or older, is required.
Due to our work with a vulnerable population, we can only accept individuals with non-violent offenses such as basic traffic violations, DWI, minor possession of alcohol, and select minor drug-related charges (evaluated on a case-by-case basis).
Court Appointed Community Service volunteers are required to pay a $35 volunteer fee to cover the associated costs of initiating a new volunteer (including background checks, volunteer insurance, etc.). Additionally, all CCS volunteers must undergo a non-refundable background check before commencing their service.
The process to become a volunteer is as follows:
- Express your interest through Voly.
- You will then be contacted with a link to complete a SPCA of Texas volunteer application. Upon completing the application, you will need to fulfill a few initial steps.
- After your initial steps are completed, you should have access through your volunteer account to complete a background check. Background checks can be completed instantly or may take up to two weeks.
Please refrain from going to the shelter until you are scheduled to get started.
