The Role

ASD – A Home for Life is seeking a motivated and mission-driven associate to join the ASD Development Department as a Permanent Part-Time Development Associate. Under the supervision of the Chief Development Officer with hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor engagement, special events, and development operations.

Will play a key role in supporting fundraising initiatives that sustain/grow housing and services for individuals impacted by chronic health conditions. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional wanting to grow within an agency and interested in nonprofit management, philanthropy, communications, and social impact.

What You'll Do

You will play a key role in sustaining and growing housing and services for individuals impacted by HIV. Working across fundraising, events, communications, and community engagement, you will help advance ASD's mission through relationship-building, research, and strategic donor support.

Fundraising & Donor Engagement

  • Conduct prospect research to identify potential individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
  • Support donor stewardship through thank-you letters, communications, and briefing materials for donor meetings.
  • Maintain and update the donor database, including gift tracking and record management.
  • Build donor cultivation strategies using data and research to increase support and enhance donor experience.
  • Support implementation of the organization's marketing and direct mail campaigns, including deferred giving initiatives.

Event & Campaign Support

  • Assist with planning and coordination of fundraising events, including invitation management, guest tracking, logistics, and volunteer support.
  • Plan small donor cultivation events in partnership with the President/CEO, Communications, Development, and Operations teams.
  • Provide follow-up communications and materials for events and campaigns.

Grant & Research Support

  • Research grant opportunities and foundation prospects.
  • Gather program information and supporting materials to assist with grant proposals and reports.

Communications & Impact Storytelling

  • Draft development communications, newsletters, and donor updates.
  • Gather stories and impact data that highlight the organization's mission and programs.
  • Manage social media posts and weekly communications.

Community Engagement

  • Identify opportunities for community partnerships and collaborations.
  • Conduct outreach to foster relationships with local businesses, organizations, and community leaders.


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Business, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong organizational ability and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) or comparable software.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to use data to inform decisions.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to engage effectively with donors, volunteers, staff, and community members.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to lift, push, or pull up to 30 pounds.

Preferred

  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising, communications, marketing, public relations, or event coordination.
  • Familiarity with donor databases or CRM systems.
  • Passion for community service, social impact, and housing justice.
