Role Description
The Director of Development is responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that advances After8toEducate’s mission and growth. This full-time, on-site role is based in Dallas, TX, and involves leading all development activities, including individual giving, major gifts, corporate and foundation relations, special events, and annual campaigns.
Day-to-day responsibilities include cultivating and stewarding donors, building and managing a robust prospect pipeline, preparing compelling proposals and impact reports, and overseeing donor recognition and retention initiatives. The Director collaborates closely with the Executive Director, board members, and program staff to align fundraising priorities with organizational needs, set revenue targets, and monitor performance. The role also includes supervising development staff or contractors, maintaining accurate development records and CRM data, and representing the organization at community events, meetings, and presentations.
Qualifications- Fundraising strategy and leadership skills, including experience developing multi-channel campaigns, setting revenue goals, and managing budgets.
- Donor cultivation, stewardship, and relationship-management skills, with a track record of securing individual, major, corporate, and foundation gifts.
- Grant writing and proposal development skills, including research, case-making, and reporting on outcomes and impact.
- Communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft clear, persuasive messaging for donors, partners, and community stakeholders.
- Data management and CRM proficiency, including maintaining accurate donor records, analyzing fundraising data, and producing reports for leadership.
- Event planning and partnership-building skills to coordinate fundraising events, volunteer engagement, and strategic collaborations.
- Demonstrated commitment to youth development, education, housing, or related social impact fields, with cultural humility and trauma-informed awareness.
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, public administration, or a related field; advanced degree or CFRE certification is a plus.
