The high level:

The Community Engagement Manager (CEM) is part of an energetic team of leaders working together to leverage Reading Partners’ mission in the community. The Community Engagement Manager’s main role is to lead, develop, and mobilize a small team of Ameri Corps Volunteers to recruit, onboard, engage, and retain a diverse portfolio of volunteers to serve as literacy tutors in our reading centers.

Reporting directly to the Regional Executive Director (with a heavy dotted line to the National Community Engagement Director and National Community Engagement Operations Manager), the Community Engagement Manager strategizes and project-manages the overall community engagement strategy for the region, including partnership development and management, other means of volunteer recruitment, training, compliance, scheduling, engagement, and more. The Community Engagement Manager is an expert relationship maximizer, is goal-oriented, and is excited by both strategic and on-the-ground work.

What you’ll do:

Each fiscal year, lead regional volunteer recruitment efforts, ensuring enough volunteers are recruited to meet annual tutor and student goals.

Alongside the National Community Engagement Director and Executive Director, develop a comprehensive recruitment strategy inclusive of digital marketing, community partnerships, and local canvassing and events.

Manage a portfolio of community partnerships to recruit volunteers.

Supervise a calendar of regional recruitment events and support Ameri Corps Volunteers in their recruitment efforts.

Each fiscal year, develop streamlined and data-informed processes to achieve an excellent conversion rate and ensure volunteers have an excellent and timely onboarding experience.

Collaborate with the National Community Engagement Director and Executive Director to operationalize and execute a regional onboarding process utilizing Salesforce Manage all parts of the onboarding process, including the volunteer sign-up form, tutor orientations, clearance requirements and compliance (i.e. background checks), and scheduling.

Maintain clean data by following data best practices and completing regular data audits.

Each fiscal year, lead efforts to keep volunteers engaged and retained year over year.

Working with the National Community Engagement Director and Executive Director, develop a regional strategy for volunteer retention and engagement, ensuring at least 40% of tutors are retained year over year and a volunteer satisfaction rate of at least 90%
Lead on all volunteer communications, campaigns, and appreciation efforts

Regularly review tutor survey data and take action to ensure a positive volunteer experience

Each fiscal year, recruit, hire, coach, manage, and train a team of 24-30 Reading Partners Ameri Corps Volunteers toward successfully reaching or exceeding community engagement…
