Required Experience and Education
  • Education:

    Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program by a governmental authority or nursing board
  • Experience:

    1 year of RN experience
  • Licenses and Certifications (upon hire) – NLC Nursing Licensure Compact‑BNE
  • ACLS Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (upon hire) required for NSICU, MICU, SICU, CVICU, EM, Labor & Delivery, and Rapid Response Team
  • BLS Basic Life Support (upon hire) required for NSICU, MICU, SICU, NICU, CVICU, EM, Labor & Delivery, and Rapid Response Team
  • NIHSS National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (upon hire) required for NSICU, MICU, EM, and Rapid Response Team
  • CPI Crisis Prevention Institute (upon hire) required for EM within 180 days
  • TNCC Trauma Nursing Core Course (upon hire) required for EM within 1½ Yrs
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (upon hire) required for EM within 1½ Yrs
  • NRP Neonatal Resuscitation (upon hire) required for Labor & Delivery
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (upon hire) and all L&D RN competencies for Labor & Delivery
Preferred
  • Education:

    Bachelor's Degree (BSN)
  • Experience:

    3 or more years Emergency Department experience
Job Duties
  • Performs and accurately documents physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments. All assessments consider age‑specific criteria (children, adolescents, adults and older adults).
  • Actively anticipates patients and/or patient’s family needs and expectations and uses these in conjunction with the assessment to develop an appropriate plan of care for the patient. Utilizes critical thinking skills in planning and prioritizing nursing care. Maintains and utilizes competencies per unit expectations.
  • Identifies and implements appropriate nursing interventions based on the completed assessment. Completes accurate and timely documentation of these interventions. Acts as coordinator of the interdisciplinary plan of care. Confers with all members of the health care team collaboratively. Shares information and observations of the patient and/or patient’s family in a manner that advocates for optimal patient care.
  • Appropriately prioritizes nursing interventions based on completed assessment. Promptly identifies changes in condition as evidenced by nursing assessment, labs, x‑rays, etc. Reports changes, takes follow‑up action as appropriate. Actively involves patient in plan of care and keeps patient, family and/or caregiver informed.
  • Evaluates implemented interventions and modifies care according to the evaluation. Documents interventions and modifications to the plan of care in an accurate and timely manner.
