Shift: PRN/Per Diem — Must work at least 2 shifts a month.

This position works under the general supervision of a physician, advanced practice provider, and/or nursing leadership to provide nursing services in the care and treatment of patients in the Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit.

Required
- Education
Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program - Experience
2 years Phase I PACU, ICU, or ED experience - Licenses & Certifications
Registered Nurse (RN), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Nursing Licensure Compact‑BNE (NLC) current Texas license

- Perform and accurately document physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments for patients of all ages.
- Anticipate patient and family needs and use assessments to develop an appropriate plan of care, employing critical thinking skills.
- Identify and implement appropriate nursing interventions, document them accurately, and coordinate care within the interdisciplinary team.
- Prioritize interventions, promptly identify changes in condition, and report or take follow‑up actions as needed.
- Evaluate implemented interventions, modify care as necessary, and document modifications in a timely manner.
- Adhere to hospital and department policies, procedures, and nationally accepted standards of nursing practice, incorporating ANA and institutional care models.
- Provide patient and family education, document education provided, and assess understanding and competence.
- Welcome, orient, and encourage patient/family participation in care; review personalized plans each shift and communicate updates.
- Advocate for resources that enhance patient safety and participate in unit budget decisions.
- Conduct peer evaluations and hold coworkers accountable for compliance with policies and standards.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives such as patient safety, satisfaction, core measures, and infection control.
- Share professional and technical information with colleagues and students; act as a resource, preceptor, or mentor when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
