Job Summary

The Heart Center at Children's Health and UT Southwestern Medical Center is one of the nation's leading programs in pediatric and congenital heart disease-built on collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to extraordinary care for every patient and family we serve.

As an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) within the Heart Center, you'll join a multidisciplinary team that includes world-class cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, critical care physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals working together across inpatient, procedural, and ambulatory settings. APPs in the Heart Center practice at the top of their license, serving as essential members of the care team who bridge advanced clinical expertise with compassionate, family-centered care.

* New Grad Rate $136,500
* Scheduled

Hours:

variable 10° shifts including call, holiday and weekend rotation

Experience and Education

Required

Education

* Master's degree in nursing or Higher degree and Documentation of completion of accredited Advanced Practice Education Program and Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. OR

* Master's degree graduate of a Master's or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program.

Licenses/Certifications

* Advanced Practice RN (CPNP-AC + RNFA) by Texas State Board of Nursing upon hire and authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire. OR

* National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and certified licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board (PA-C) upon hire. AND

* Current Basic Advanced Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified by the American Heart Association or Red Cross based on the UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers upon hire.

Preferred Experience

* 1-2 years of surgical assist in pediatric cardio thoracic surgery preferred

Job Duties

* Diagnoses and treats critically ill patients, develops and manages treatment plans, and performs advanced procedures.

* Develops and implements treatment plans for patients.

* Conducts and documents comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis, including psychological status.
