Nurse Practitioner, Advanced Practice Nurse/APRN
Job Summary
Join a collaborative team of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) caring for Kidney and Liver Transplant patients at Clements University Hospital. You’ll be managing their pre‑ and postoperative hospital course, discharge planning, evaluation of consults, etc. Schedule is 12‑hour nocturnal shifts with rotating weekends. We’re looking for an experienced Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. Veterans encouraged to apply.

Graduate of a master’s degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician (ARC‑PA) accredited Physician Assistant program, or master’s degree or higher in nursing with completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Education Program. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.
Licensure and CertificationCertification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required; licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board. OR licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by Texas State Board of Nursing and authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing. Current applicable ACLS or American Red Cross Life‑Support certification required.
Job Duties- Conduct and document comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations, including psychological status.
- Synthesize data and utilize evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies or results.
- Demonstrate proficiency in technical/procedural skills, as appropriate based on specialty and training.
- Provide management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families, and caregivers related to current care and preventive health measures.
- Facilitate and participate in quality initiatives and/or clinical research protocols through planned group processes, workshops, seminars, and staff meetings to improve clinical and system practice performance.
- Collaborate on research projects and protocols and routinely apply evidence‑based best practices to patient care.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This position is security‑sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information. Security integrity of critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification.
