Position Overview
Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) – PRN weekend coverage (Saturday & Sunday 8:30 am–3:00 pm; occasional weekday shifts). A level I to Senior role based on experience.
Responsibilities- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and instructional material.
- Prepare and administer therapies under physician direction.
- Administer all medications/blood products using correct dosage, route, time and technique.
- Ensure pre‑authorization and consent forms are obtained prior to therapy administration when applicable.
- Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient, labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management.
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports and maintain central line catheter devices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments.
- Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
Level I
- Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program; BSN preferred.
- Current RN state license and registration with the State Board of Nursing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- 0–3 years nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred.
Level II
- Minimum 3 years nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred.
Level Senior
- Minimum 5 years nursing experience, including at least 1 year in oncology.
- Oncology certification preferred.
Work environment typical of a oncology/hematology clinic; possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medical preparations. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.
Physical RequirementsFull range of body motion; handling and lifting patients; manual and finger dexterity; eye–hand coordination; standing and walking for extended periods; occasionally lift up to 40 lbs. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
