Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse)
About the Role
Bio Life Plasma Services is a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. The Medical Support Specialist reports to the Plasma Center Manager and works under the guidance of the Center Physician for medical issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Determine donor eligibility, manage informed consent, and conduct medical history interviews.
- Perform physical examinations, blood testing, and review serological protein electrophoresis results.
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies.
- Coordinate with Center Physician, Medical Affairs, and Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) for medical and safety guidance.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and refer to occupational health or emergency response as needed.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations of pandemic threats.
- Assist in developing standing orders and coordinating donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent; graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Current license or certification in the state of assignment:
Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA). - Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Minimum two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Sign‑on bonus of $1,500.
- Hourly wage range: $33.44 – $45.98, based on qualifications and experience.
