Job Summary

Provides direct patient care and clinical support for physicians and other providers in the outpatient setting. Functions as an integral member of the health care team under the direction of the provider. Performs clinical duties such as preparing patients, collecting and reviewing pertinent information, performing technical duties, documenting using the electronic medical record, and supporting a safe environment for patients. Provides administrative and clerical support for the clinic, including patient scheduling, filing reports, and following up on documentation, phone calls, and billing inquiries.

• Obtain and document patient information in the rooming tool, including reason for visit, weight, vital signs, visit screening, medication review, and pertinent information.
• Set up examination and treatment rooms between cases.
• Assist patients with preparations for provider visits and ensure safety and privacy.
• Perform patient care mandated by the provider, including EKGs, wound dressings, and support for minor surgical procedures and ancillary examinations.
• Administer medications following mandatory policies, not including intravenous administration.
• Execute patient tests and mandatory lab specimen collection, preparing associated documentation.
• Perform phlebotomy and assist in laboratory functions supervised by the laboratory.
• Conduct receptionist and clerical duties, record-keeping, scheduling, referrals, pre-authorizations, and co‑payment collection.
• Assist with orientation of new personnel and document ongoing patient communication.
