RN Med Surg Ortho Seasonal Position

Night Shift, 7:00pm - 7:00am with rotating weekend.

Seasonal Rate: $55/hr.

Seasonal Program Requirements
  • Seasonal program runs from Sept. 20, 2026 to April 3, 2027.
  • All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period.
  • Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need.
  • Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4‑week schedule period.
  • During the course of the 32‑week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee).
  • Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call‑off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital.
  • Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for extra shift bonuses (D1/CND or D2/ECD).
  • Registered Nurses who are in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation.
  • Current FT/PT & PRN employees are not eligible to join the Seasonal program for 2026–27 except for RNs that participated in the Seasonal program in the previous year.
  • Current employees of HWS are not eligible for the seasonal program.
  • Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The RN Med Surg Tele performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act with emphasis on the cardiovascular service line.

What You Will Do In This Role:
  • Use therapeutic communication in daily practice.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic Telemetry environment.
  • Implement and direct care, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual Telemetry patients.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing process.
  • Provide emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding health care.
  • Delegate tasks to the appropriate caregiver.
  • Participate in cardiovascular department specific initiatives and process improvement.
  • Promote a supportive Telemetry environment.
  • Provide supervision of new employees, patient care assistant, vocational nurses, nurse technicians, student nurses and/or nurse externs.
  • Maintain high quality (age specific) care for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients as assigned.
  • Support the mission, vision and values of the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Associate’s Degree okay to start, BSN required within 24 months of hire into RN position.
  • Current RN license in the State of TX or compact license.
  • Currently BLS issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • ACLS required within 6 months of hire and issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year acute care experience in Med Surg Ortho.
