Work hours:
Full Time (40 hours/week) – Day Shift, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM; holiday leadership call coverage required.
- The position is the supervisor for both Main and Perot PACUs, and averages about 50% in staffing and 50% administrative. We take call shifts for both departments and need to be able to function independently as a PACU RN.
- We work with a variety of other departments throughout the day, so a positive attitude is essential as well as critical thinking skills and the ability to be flexible throughout the day.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to problem solve and to adapt to the needs of our diverse population and the other departments we work closely with.
- Associate’s degree graduate from an accredited school of nursing required
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
- 2 Years experience as a registered nurse with previous experience as a charge nurse or similar leadership role (i.e. Charge nurse, committee chair, preceptor) required
- Prior leadership or charge nurse experience in a high-acuity perioperative services environment, including PACU, ICU, ED, or procedural areas strongly preferred
- RN
- Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required And - BCLS
- Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required AND - ACLS
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support 90 Days Req And - PALS
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Upon Hire Pref And - OCN
- Oncology Certified Nurse Upon Hire Pref
- Collaborate with Leadership, UBC, and appropriate team members to establish, implement, and monitor department policies/procedures, facilitate unit goals, evaluate and individualize patient care and provide direction to staff to promote quality outcomes.
- In addition to the required qualifications, a successful Nursing Supervisor will:
- Engage staff to promote evidence-based practices within the unit.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and regulatory requirements for compliance.
- Provide bedside leadership and clinical expertise to improve quality of patient care.
- Provide safe direct patient care in coordination with other staff when unit activity dictates.
- Provide guidance in emergency or complex situations.
- Use appropriate methodology consistently for communication handoffs.
