Work hours:

Full Time (40 hours/week) – Day Shift, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM; holiday leadership call coverage required. PACU department highlights:

  • The position is the supervisor for both Main and Perot PACUs, and averages about 50% in staffing and 50% administrative. We take call shifts for both departments and need to be able to function independently as a PACU RN.
  • We work with a variety of other departments throughout the day, so a positive attitude is essential as well as critical thinking skills and the ability to be flexible throughout the day.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to problem solve and to adapt to the needs of our diverse population and the other departments we work closely with.

Qualifications

  • Here's What You Need
    • Associate's degree graduate from an accredited school of nursing required
    • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
    • 2 Years experience as a registered nurse with previous experience as a charge nurse or similar leadership role (i.e. Charge nurse, committee chair, preceptor) required
    • Prior leadership or charge nurse experience in a high-acuity perioperative services environment, including PACU, ICU, ED, or procedural areas strongly preferred
    • RN
      - Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required And
    • BCLS
      - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
    • ACLS
      - Advanced Cardiac Life Support 90 Days Req
    • PALS
      - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Upon Hire Pref
    • OCN
      - Oncology Certified Nurse Upon Hire Pref
  • What You Will Do
    • Collaborate with Leadership, UBC, and appropriate team members to establish, implement, and monitor department policies/procedures, facilitate unit goals, evaluate and individualize patient care and provide direction to staff to promote quality outcomes.
    • Engage staff to promote evidence-based practices within the unit.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and regulatory requirements for compliance.
    • Provide bedside leadership and clinical expertise to improve quality of patient care.
    • Provide safe direct patient care in coordination with other staff when unit activity dictates.
    • Provide guidance in emergency or complex situations.
    • Use appropriate methodology consistently for communication handoffs.
