Job Summary

White Rock Medical Center is seeking an experienced and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to support our medical weight management and bariatric program. The APP will provide direct patient care to individuals pursuing medical and surgical weight loss. Responsibilities will include new patient evaluations, follow-up visits, medication management, patient education, and ongoing weight-management support.

The ideal candidate has knowledge or experience in obesity medicine, medical weight loss, or bariatrics and understands that obesity is a complex chronic disease. The APP should approach every patient with compassion, respect, patience, and without judgment. This position is ideal for a provider who is passionate about helping patients achieve meaningful, sustainable improvements in their health and quality of life.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and manage patients participating in medical weight-loss programs.
  • Conduct comprehensive new patient evaluations and follow-up visits.
  • Obtain detailed medical, surgical, medication, and weight-management histories.
  • Develop individualized weight-management treatment plans based on each patient's needs and goals.
  • Provide education regarding nutrition, physical activity, lifestyle modification, and long-term weight management.
  • Prescribe, manage, and monitor appropriate medical weight-loss medications within the provider's scope of practice.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with commonly used anti-obesity medications, including GLP-1-based therapies.
  • Monitor patient progress, medication tolerance, laboratory results, and treatment response.
  • Identify and manage obesity-related comorbidities as appropriate.
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative support for bariatric surgery patients.
  • Evaluate patients who may be appropriate candidates for surgical weight loss and coordinate referrals as appropriate.
  • Collaborate closely with bariatric surgeons, physicians, nurses, dietitians, and other members of the clinical team.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and the healthcare team.
  • Build supportive, trusting relationships with patients throughout their weight-loss journey.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental meetings as appropriate.

  • Participate in departmental meetings and quality improvement activities.
  • Follow patient rights, safety, infection prevention, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and hospital safety protocols.
  • Maintain a safe environment of care and follow applicable hospital safety programs.
