JOB SUMMARY

This position works under the general supervision of a physician, advanced practice provider, and/or nursing leadership to deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in the Multi-Specialty ICU. The unit cares for a diverse population of Medical ICU and Cardiac ICU patients, including those with complex medical conditions, STEMI, post-cardiac catheterization procedures, heart and lung transplant evaluations, and advanced heart failure. As a member of the UT Southwestern Multi-Specialty ICU team, you will gain experience with advanced cardiac assistive devices and specialized procedures while working alongside a highly collaborative and supportive team.

Education

Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program

  • Experience
    One (1) year of experience working as a registered nurse (RN) in a critical care or intensive care unit (ICU)
License and Certifications

Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Texas Board of Nursing or with a multistate license from Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state
BLS/ACLS accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification

Preferred Education

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)

  • Experience
    Three (3) or more year of experience working as a registered nurse (RN) in a high acuity critical care or intensive care unit (ICU)
  • License and Certifications
    Licensed RN with CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) Certification (In addition to required certifications)
JOB DUTIES
  • Performs and accurately documents physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments. All assessments take into consideration age specific criteria (children, adolescents, adults and older adults).
  • Actively anticipates patients and/or patient's family needs and expectations and utilizes these in conjunction with the assessment to develop an appropriate plan of care for the patient. Utilizes critical thinking skills in planning and prioritizing nursing care. Maintains and utilizes competencies per unit expectation.
  • Identifies and implements appropriate nursing interventions based on the completed assessment. Completes accurate and timely documentation of these interventions. Active coordinator of the interdisciplinary plan of care. Confers with all members of the health care team…
