Medical City Heart & Spine RN Med Surg Ortho Seasonal Position
Seasonal Program Requirements
- Seasonal program runs from Sept. 20, 2026-April 3, 2027
- All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period.
- Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need.
- Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period.
- During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee).
- Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital.
- Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for extra shift bonuses (D1/CND or D2/ECD)
- Registered Nurses who are in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation.
- Current FT/PT & PRN employees are not eligible to join the Seasonal program for 2026--27.
- Current employees of HWS are not eligible for the seasonal program.
- Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department.

You'll help shape decisions that elevate both patient outcomes and the future of nursing.
The RN Med Surg Ortho will performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act with emphasis on the Ortho Spine Service Line.
What You Will Do In This Role:
- Determine the predictable or unpredictable health status and health needs of patients (individual and family) through interpretation of health data and preventive practice in collaboration with patients and interdisciplinary health care team members.
- Utilize a systematic approach to provide individualized, goal-directed nursing care.
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient.
- Formulate a nursing care plan based on determination of nursing diagnoses and identified problems.
- Implement nursing care within the RN's scope of practice, including compliance with other laws that apply to the practice setting.
- Develop and implement teaching plans for patients concerning promotion, maintenance and restoration of health.
- Provide education, emotional support and age specific care to foster a partnership with the patient and significant others.
- Provide for the care of multiple patients (individual and family) either through direct care or assignment and/or delegation of care to other members of the healthcare team.
- Evaluate the patient's (individual and family) responses and outcomes to therapeutic interventions.
- Use critical thinking approach to analyze clinical data and current literature as a basis for decision making in nursing practice.
What Qualifications You Will Need:
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
- Associate's Degree okay to start, BSN required within 24 months of hire into RN position
- Current RN license in the State of TX or compact license
- Currently BLS issued by the American Red Cross of American Heart Association
- ACLS required within 6 months of hire and issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Must have a minimum of 1 year acute care experience in Med Surg Ortho
