Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) to join our growing Neurology team in Dallas. This is a shift-based position that provides care across both the inpatient neurology service and outpatient stroke clinic.
This role offers a unique opportunity to practice in a collaborative academic environment caring for patients with acute neurologic conditions while also participating in longitudinal stroke follow-up care. Approximately 80% of the position is dedicated to inpatient neurology, including both the general neurology and stroke services, with the remaining 20% spent in the outpatient Stroke Clinic.
The selected provider will work alongside a highly specialized multidisciplinary team consisting of 10 Neurologists, 6 Advanced Practice Providers, and 1 supervising physician, delivering evidence-based neurological care across the continuum.
Position Highlights- Shift-based schedule with 192 shifts annually
- 10-hour day shifts (8:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
- No call responsibilities
- Some weekend coverage required

- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients admitted to the inpatient neurology and stroke services.
- Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations.
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with supervising neurologists.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory studies, diagnostic imaging, and neurological testing.
- Monitor patient progress throughout hospitalization and adjust treatment plans as appropriate.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and collaborate closely with physicians, nursing, rehabilitation services, pharmacy, and case management.
- Provide stroke follow-up care and secondary stroke prevention management in the outpatient Stroke Clinic.
- Educate patients and families regarding neurologic conditions, medications, lifestyle modifications, and treatment plans.
- Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
- Coordinate consultations and referrals when appropriate.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory, quality, and patient safety standards.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Ability to manage complex neurological and stroke patients in an inpatient setting
- Excellent critical thinking and clinical decision-making abilities
- Effective communication and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and healthcare technology
- Graduate of an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) program.
- Minimum one (1) year of Advanced Practice Provider experience in an inpatient setting. New graduate Nurse Practitioners will not be considered.

Neurology experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with strong inpatient experience and an interest in neuroscience are encouraged to apply.
Certifications & Licensure Required- Current Texas APRN license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Current certification as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP)
- Prescriptive authority in the State of Texas
- DEA (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer
