Neonatal Nurse Practitioner needed in Dallas area

Methodist Medical Group (MMG) is seeking a full-time Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals at Methodist Southwest Medical Center.

As a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, you shall provide, within education, training and experience parameters, direct patient care and medical services that are delegated by the Medical Director of the Nurseries and within the scope of advanced practice as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, utilizing practice guidelines approved by the medical staff. Support the efficient functioning of the Women's and Children’s Services section through the coordination of clinical and operational activities directed toward the provision of quality services and ongoing compliance with all regulatory standards and complying with the Standards of Performance  will function as a resource person for the clinical staff members and assist in necessary education and support of the clinical staff’s needs and supports the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of Methodist Health System.

Qualifications
  • Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas or eligibility to do so required
  • Current license with the Board of Nurse Examiners for the state of Texas as an Advance Practice Nurse, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority
  • Current NRP certification, required.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification, required
  • Full active DEA license
  • Able to professionally and effectively communicate (orally and in writing)
  • Work Experience:

    2 years of acute care nursing in neonatal field
  • Good reasoning and decision-making skills and the ability to understand and follow instructions are knowledgeable about hospital policies, procedures, and nursing care standards and utilize these when providing nursing care.
  • Must be able to learn new information and apply it to practical situations.
  • Job Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with members of the health care team and with the physician to assess, provide and evaluate care of patients in the neonatal setting
  • Demonstrate proficiency and skills in areas of primary care for neonatal and infant population served
  • Organize patient care and general clinical activities
  • Initiate interaction and consultation with other members of the health care team
  • Maintain a high level of professional standards and personal responsibilities
  • Acts as a clinical preceptor
  • Coordinate referrals to physicians, other health care providers, and community agencies
  • Order, interpret and record results of clinical tests and report results to a physician.
  • Participates in the development and assists in the implementation of units and departmental goals and objectives.
  • Acts as a role model for other staff through innovative, independent and self-directed accomplishments
