We are seeking a highly motivated Specialist to support our rodent and small-mammal assisted reproduction and colony-generation and maintenance programs. This role is essential to enabling advanced research through high-quality embryo transfer, reproductive procedures, and embryology support services. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, skilled in microsurgical or micro-manipulation techniques, and comfortable working in a fast-paced research environment.

This position will be based in Dallas, TX Relocation assistance is available.

Duties and Responsibilities Embryo Transfer & Microsurgical Procedures
  • Plan, schedule, and execute embryo transfer procedures in rodents and other small mammals.
  • Perform hormone injections, oocyte and embryo recovery, and vasectomy.
  • Conduct tissue collection and sample processing for downstream analysis.
Post-Procedure Animal Care & Well-Being
  • Provide post-surgical monitoring, care, and documentation following institutional and regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist with validation of embryo transfer outcomes, including pregnancy checks, sample collection, and data reporting.
Laboratory Operations & Record Management
  • Maintain accurate, timely records of procedures, sample inventory, animal IDs, outcomes, and quality-control data.
  • Prepare reagents, materials, and surgical setups to support daily embryology workflows.
  • Uphold compliance with IACUC, animal welfare standards, and laboratory safety procedures.
Training & Collaboration
  • Provide hands‑on training and technical support to internal researchers and collaborating teams.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers and investigators to ensure aligned timelines and experimental plans.
  • Contribute to optimization of SOPs, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of embryology techniques.

Other tasks as assigned may include lab and husbandry support.

Required

Skills and Abilities
  • Hands‑on experience with rodent handling, anesthesia, surgical procedures, or microsurgical techniques.
  • Experience with embryo transfer, reproductive technologies, and rodent colony management.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed protocols and maintain precise laboratory documentation.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety, sterile techniques, and animal welfare guidelines.
  • Understanding of colony management, pedigree, and mate selection paradigms.
  • Previous work in an academic, biotech, or vivarium environment supporting research teams.
Preferred
  • Experience with IVF/ICSI.
  • Familiarity with oocyte or embryo collection, injections, cryopreservation, or microinjection tools.
Required

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Reproductive Biology, Animal Science, Biotechnology, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of hands‑on experience with applied small animal reproduction.
