JOB DETAILS
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quality Area Lead to oversee and manage the daily operations of the quality control team. The Quality Area Lead will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet the company's quality standards, improving product quality, reducing defects, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The role involves managing a team of QC technicians and EOL inspectors, conducting audits, implementing corrective actions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead a team of hourly QC technicians and EOL inspectors on the production floor
- Support QC members providing the right tools to perform their job
- Understand and learn all different Quality tests performed in the Quality department
- Support supervisors and operations with line decisions
- Conduct audits to ensure Quality procedures are in place and within standards and identified areas for process improvement
- Audit the quality of incoming materials as a backup for material inspector and audit finished products in accordance with quality standards
- Communicate effectively with Quality Control Technicians regarding product quality, issues, and the status of work in progress
- Provide training and guidance to new and existing team members on quality assurance methods, tools, and processes. Ensure they understand quality control procedures and best practices to perform their job
- Report out quality internal metrics and deliver results during production meeting
- Drive initiatives and projects to improve quality metrics
- Assisted in the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for quality control
- Create plant visual quality standards and documentation (work instructions, one-point lessons, visual aids)
- Ensure the Water wall Maintenance program is in compliance
- Run remakes reports and scrap weight report
- Manage WIT Board
- Run Samples department. Ensure all windows are complete for loads and support QC member in charge of samples
- Review Flagged orders/ QC orders with 100% inspection and run loads to ensure everything is scanned out
- Maintain strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate proficiency PC skills
- Provide training to Production Associates regarding product quality
- Lead or participate in teams with members and vendors to resolve quality problems, investigate concerns, collect necessary data, and address complaints using the established Cornerstone Building Brands Quality Problem-Solving methodology
- Education:
High School Graduate/GED - 2 years for quality-related experience
- 3 to 5 years of managing people
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Problem‑solving, analyzing data and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Proficient in using measuring equipment and quality control equipment
- Strong understanding of quality control procedures and manufacturing processes
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Proven ability to maintain quality control documentation and records
- Ability to operate computer and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook Email, PowerPoint, Excel and Word
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Bilingual is a plus
