Quality Manager
A growing cosmetics company is seeking a hands-on, operational Quality Manager to provide site-level ownership for all Quality Assurance and Quality Control operations. This role is responsible for leading a team of Quality Inspectors and Technicians, driving compliance with regulatory standards, and executing quality programs. The ideal candidate will be a visible leader on the production floor, comfortable flexing their schedule to support multiple shifts and ensuring products consistently meet safety, efficacy, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Provide site-level ownership of quality systems execution, compliance, and inspection readiness.
- Manage, train, and mentor a team of approximately 12-13 direct reports, including Quality Inspectors and Technicians.
- Ensure all production and testing processes align with cGMP, MoCRA, and ISO 22716 standards.
- Oversee the inspection and release of incoming raw materials, in-process goods, and final finished products.
- Lead investigations into deviations and out-of-specifications (OOS) results, driving Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Drive accountability and continuous improvement for plant-level quality KPIs.
- Collaborate with supply chain to audit and evaluate raw material vendors.
- Maintain a strong presence on the production floor, adjusting schedules as needed to support both first and second shifts.
- Manage programs for environmental monitoring, pest control, and equipment calibration.
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in a technical or scientific discipline such as Chemistry, Biology, or Engineering is preferred.
Experience:
Five or more years of progressive quality leadership experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, such as cosmetics, personal care, or topical OTC products. Experience must include hands-on leadership on a plant floor and direct management of quality inspectors or technicians. A strong background in Quality Management Systems (QMS) is required.
Technical
Skills:
Proficiency in cGMP, MoCRA, and ISO 22716 standards. Demonstrated ability in root cause analysis, CAPA implementation, and audit support.
- Experience with in a contract manufacturing environment.
- Background with formulations and product ingredients.
- Experience in mid-size manufacturing environments.
The compensation for this position is between $95,000 and $100,000 annually, with a potential 20% bonus. A comprehensive benefits package is offered, which includes medical insurance, a 401K match, and profit sharing.
Work EnvironmentThis position requires full-time, on-site presence at the manufacturing facility. The role must support both 1st shift (7:00 AM 3:30 PM) and 2nd shift (3:30 PM midnight), with a standard schedule expected to be approximately 6:30 AM 4:30 PM, flexing as needed based on production demands.
