Responsibilities
  • Inspect and test products at various stages in the production process.
  • Establish testing procedures to determine a product's dimensions and its mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
  • Set up and perform testing on materials, parts, or finished products to measure performance under a variety of conditions.
  • Document test results.
  • After full testing, evaluate the data.
  • Prepare summaries comparing the product to existing quality and reliability standards.
  • Suggest changes in manufacturing processes to achieve the best quality possible.
  • Recommend methods to minimize scrap or leftover material after production.
  • Specialize in areas such as product design, purchasing, inventory control, or research and development.
  • Select and assign quality‑control duties and evaluate team performance.
  • Arrange training related to improving quality‑control measures and ensure labor‑relations requirements are met.
  • Maintain records and reports, issue correspondence, review errors and causes, and advise on corrective actions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Perform arithmetic in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Compute rates, ratios, and percentages and interpret bar graphs.
  • Apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Demonstrate advanced technical and process skills.
  • Demonstrate advanced/ thorough knowledge of the function and Flex business.
  • Highly skilled with ability to move between shifts and product lines.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • ASQ certification as CQT, CQA, CQPA, or CSSGB is desired.
Scope / Impact
  • Proactively assists supervisor in reaching department goals and targets.
Decision Making / Discretion
  • Determines quality/testing methods and procedures on new assignments; decisions may affect external parties.
Supervision / Leadership
  • May instruct other employees.
Work Environment
  • Work may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts and require repetitive motion; noise level is usually loud.
Physical Demands
  • Job requires regular talking and hearing, frequent sitting, occasional standing and reaching with hands and arms, and occasional lifting or moving objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and color vision. Ability to handle small components.
