We are seeking an experienced Industrial Quality Control Manager to lead and manage quality assurance and inspection programs across multiple industrial construction and power generation sites. This traveling role requires a hands-on leader who ensures compliance with industry codes and standards (ASME, NBIC, AISC, AWS), oversees NDE activities, coordinates with contractors and clients, and implements consistent quality systems and continuous improvement practices while documenting results using tools such as Bluebeam.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain site quality control and assurance programs to meet client specifications, contract requirements, and applicable codes and standards (ASME, NBIC, AISC, AWS).
  • Plan, coordinate and perform inspections, non-destructive examination (NDE) oversight, welding inspections, hydrostatic and pneumatic testing, and final acceptance activities across multiple job sites.
  • Lead and supervise quality control personnel and third-party inspectors; provide training, mentorship and performance feedback to ensure consistent application of QA/QC procedures.
  • Conduct internal and supplier audits, evaluate subcontractor performance, and manage corrective and preventive actions to closure.
  • Review and approve quality documentation, inspection plans, welding procedures, material traceability, NDE reports, test records, and final commissioning documentation. Utilize Bluebeam and other documentation tools to manage drawings, punch lists and inspection reports.
  • Interface with project management, construction, engineering, and client representatives to resolve quality issues, support technical reviews, and ensure timely resolution of nonconformances.
  • Ensure adherence to safety policies and regulatory requirements on site; participate in pre-job planning and safety meetings.
  • Prepare regular quality reports, metrics, and presentations for stakeholders; drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase quality and reduce rework and cost.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience; advanced degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of progressive quality assurance/quality control experience in industrial construction or power generation, including hands-on inspection experience in field environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of codes and standards: ASME (Section I/III/VIII as applicable), NBIC, AISC, AWS and applicable industry standards and specifications.
  • NDE familiarity with common methods (UT, RT, MT, PT) and relevant certifications (e.g., Level II/III or equivalent) preferred. AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent highly desirable.
  • Proven experience managing welding inspection programs, welding procedure specifications (WPS), procedure qualifications (PQR) and welder qualifications.
  • Experience with quality management systems (ISO 9001 or equivalent), supplier quality management and audit processes.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam or similar markup/document control tools and strong competency with MS Office and quality reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently while traveling frequently to project sites. Valid drivers license and willingness to travel extensively (domestic and potentially international).
