CMT Technician

Job Summary

The CMT Technician performs soil and concrete testing on commercial construction sites in the Abilene area. This hands-on, field-based role involves conducting material tests, documenting results, and communicating with project teams to ensure quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

+ Perform soil, concrete, density, compaction, and gradation testing on active job sites.

+ Conduct slump, air/pressure, and other required construction materials tests.

+ Operate nuclear density gauges and other testing equipment.

+ Accurately record and report test results.

+ Communicate findings and project updates with site personnel and internal teams.

+ Transport, load, and maintain testing equipment.

+ Follow all safety procedures and project requirements.

Qualifications

+ 3+ years of construction materials testing or related field experience.

+

Experience with soil density, compaction, and concrete testing.

+ Familiarity with nuclear density gauges (Troxler or similar).

+ Strong attention to detail with basic math and reporting skills.

+ Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

+ Strong communication skills and willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime.

Preferred

+ Knowledge of ACI and NICET standards.

+ Interest in obtaining industry certifications.

Work Environment

Primarily outdoor work on active construction sites. Requires lifting and transporting testing equipment and the flexibility to work variable schedules, typically 40-60 hours per week. A supportive, team-oriented culture focused on training and career growth.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of DALLAS, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
