Dr. Katherine SF Damme is hiring a full‑time Post‑Doctoral Research Associate for her new lab in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences (BBS) at the University of Texas lab’s research focuses on leveraging neurodevelopment in childhood and adolescence to understand the risks of mental illness and promote healthy transitions to adulthood. Current projects involve typically developing and clinical risk populations (e.g., psychosis, depression) and span hormones, neurodevelopment, biomarkers, and scale development using behavioral, modeling, and neuroimaging techniques.
The Post‑Doc will provide technical, analytic, and administrative assistance supporting various research projects, and be responsible for evaluation and interpretation of research data, and for planning and executing analyses according to research proposals.
This position offers experience in publishing, grant writing, graduate/undergraduate mentorship, and other opportunities that prepare a fellow for an Assistant Professor position.
The anticipated start date is Fall 2026. This role is ideal for someone wishing to build multidisciplinary research experience, intensive neuroimaging training, publish papers, attend conferences, and connect with multiple research groups.
Responsibilities- Manage large longitudinal datasets.
- Assist with the implementation and analysis of cognitive, behavioral, and fMRI experiments.
- Coordinate research projects (recruiting, scheduling, running participants).
- Coordinate and train research assistants.
- Preprocess and analyze functional and structural neuroimaging data.
- Assist PI with lab management, including ordering supplies and maintaining inventory.
- Maintain protocols and compliance paperwork for the lab.
- Participate actively in lab meetings and departmental events.
- Work independently and collaboratively within the research team.
- Communicate effectively in written and oral form and exhibit strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate motivation to learn quickly, consistency, reliability, time‑management, and problem‑solving abilities.
Minimum
- Ph.D. in a related field.
- Eligibility to begin employment upon completion of all Ph.D. requirements and submission of an official letter certifying completion, with expected conferral date; formal conferral is required for appointment and continued employment.
Preferred
- Ph.D. in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Neuroscience, or related field.
- Experience with experimental design, programming of behavioral tasks, neuroanatomy, neuroimaging (MRI), human subject data collection, and/or data analysis.
- Experience with clinical populations, adolescence/childhood development, and/or risk models.
- Prior work or volunteering in a human research setting.
- Experience with clinical populations, neuroimaging or neuromodulation, or computer programming is a plus.
- Technical skills (Python, R, Unix) highly desired but not required.
- Experience managing teams of people and/or interest in psychological and neurobiological changes across adulthood is a plus.
- Neuroimaging (fMRI, MRI, or EEG) experience.
- Experience in longitudinal modeling.
