The Basak Lab at the University of Texas at Dallas is seeking a Research Assistant I to lead various research activities in Dr. Chandramallika Basak’s Lifespan Cognition and Neuroscience (LiNC) Lab located at UT Dallas Center for Vital Longevity.
Ability to maintain high degrees of confidentiality, basic computer skills, organization of records and attention to detail is a must. Knowledge of statistics and background in human subject research would be a plus.
Minimum Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in one of the basic sciences or an equivalent combination of education and experience in customer service or in daily interactions in a public services environment.
PreferredEducation and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, or a cognate subject.
Other QualificationsTo the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Coordinate research staff and lab activities, including participant recruitment and screening, data collection, data entry into databases, updating records and notebooks, and data analysis.
- Assist with IRB protocols.
- Conduct literature searches.
- Evaluate and interpret research data for presentation to the principal investigator and other researchers.
- Maintain a clean laboratory and work area to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
- Order laboratory and other supplies as directed by senior research staff.
- Stay abreast of IRB and regulatory requirements.
- Interview research study participants.
- Administer computer and written standardized psychological testing materials.
- Assess subjects’ ability to participate.
- Collect and enter data into the database.
- Oversee student data collection.
- Collect MRI and fNIRS data.
Remote work is not available for this position.
