About Universal DX

Universal DX, Inc. is an international company with a highly experienced team focused on cracking cancer’s code. Through our multi-omics and bioinformatics models, we read the disease’s signals in blood with high accuracy to detect cancer in its earliest stages. Starting with a colorectal cancer screening liquid biopsy test, we are building a multi-cancer platform that can identify the unique DNA regions associated with different types of cancers.

The Opportunity

Universal DX is seeking a Technical Lead to join our growing Lab Ops team. In this role, you will work closely with the Lab Operations, Product Development, and Quality teams to ensure technical rigor and standardized execution of complex molecular workflows within the laboratory. You will provide hands-on technical oversight during critical assay steps, review metrics, and ensure adherence to SOP-driven processes on the laboratory floor.

In addition, you will support the development and implementation of a robust laboratory training program to ensure consistency, competency, and scalability across the laboratory team.

You will be part of a team that is passionate about developing novel diagnostic tests for early detection of cancers. What You’ll Contribute
  • Technical oversight of NGS assay execution and ensure generation of high quality NGS data
  • Review in process QC results and confirm adherence to established acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure consistent execution of approved assay parameters across all operators
  • Assist laboratory operators in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in real time
  • Partner with Assay Development to support implementation of protocol updates within the laboratory.
  • Develop and implement a structured training plan for all laboratory operators. Develop and implement a competency assessment plan for all laboratory operators.
  • Assist with workflow coordination and prioritization within the laboratory.
  • Promote continuous improvement in execution quality and process consistency.
What You’ll Bring
  • Master’s degree in Life Sciences or related technical field preferred;
    Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 8-10 years of molecular laboratory experience in biotech, diagnostics, pharma, clinical, or regulated environments, including 5+ years of hands-on NGS experience.
  • Prior experience with processing samples using automated NGS workflows is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot NGS workflow issues and maintain process consistency.
  • Prior experience in reinforcing adherence to SOP-driven laboratory practices and quality standards in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Proven experience in training and mentoring lab operators in the execution of NGS assays.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and clear communication abilities.
