Job Description

Job Summary

Works under minimal supervision to provide responsible technical assistance in the performance of assignments requiring basic knowledge of techniques and practices related to a particular field of science. Primary responsibilities include cell culture and some molecular biology, with prior experience in cell culture required. Performs routine scientific and medical research work in biology, chemistry, physics, or related fields. Assembles and operates laboratory equipment, records data, and assists in collecting data for project reports.

Responsibilities
  • Performs routine scientific and medical research work in biology, chemistry, physics, or other related scientific fields.
  • Assembles and operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.
  • Records research data in accordance with prescribed procedures, discussing results with supervisor.
  • Assists in collection of data for project reports.
  • Reads literature and confers with supervisor concerning implementation of new procedures.
  • May plan for, and provide working supervision to, laboratory personnel of lower grade engaged in limited phases of a research project.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Education – Bachelor’s Degree with major coursework in the field of assignment and no experience;
    Two (2) years of college with emphasis in coursework; or High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • ExperienceNo experience required with Bachelor’s Degree; 2 years of laboratory experience at the level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with two (2) years of college; or 4 years of laboratory experience including two years at the level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
