Tenure Faculty position - Peter O’Donnell Jr. School of Public Health

The Peter O’Donnell Jr. School of Public Health at UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking exceptional candidates for open-rank, tenured or tenure-track faculty positions.

We encourage applications from exceptional scholars with a national reputation in public health and population research. Qualified candidates should hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D.,

D.Sc., DrPH, or equivalent) in public health, or an MD with additional training a related field (M.S., M.P.H., MSc., or Ph.D.). Candidates must demonstrate a successful and impactful research career with a strong record of securing external funding (e.g., NIH, CDC, AHRQ, PCORI). Experience in academic leadership, program development, teaching, and fostering multidisciplinary collaboration is highly desired.

The Peter O’Donnell Jr. School of Public Health offers unique academic and research opportunities for successful candidates. Numerous clinic- and population-based research programs, including the Dallas Hearts and Minds Study, provide ample opportunities for collaboration. Additionally, the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, home to 7.8 million people, features a large and diverse population—41 percent Hispanic and 24 percent African American—offering exceptional opportunities for population health research.

UT Southwestern O’Donnell School of Public Health has a substantial research portfolio and is emerging as a leader in population health research. Faculty members are supported by both quantitative and qualitative methods cores, as well as a comprehensive range of pre- and post-grant support services. The school’s faculty are experts in diverse fields, including epidemiology, clinical trials, community participatory research, implementation science, biostatistics, data science, AI, and social and behavioral sciences.

UT Southwestern boasts over 3,000 full-time faculty members, contributing to more than $719 million in annual grant funded research. The University is home to 24 members of the National Academy of Medicine, 25 members of the National Academy of Sciences and 6 Nobel laureates. The many centers of research excellence on campus include the O’Donnell Brain Institute, the Simmons Cancer Center (an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center), and an NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Award Program.

• Ph.D., M.D., Sc.D., DrPH, or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant discipline
• Demonstrated ability to conduct scholarly research and capacity to obtain peer-reviewed funding
• Highly self-motivated individual, enthusiastic about scientific discovery and able to collaborate closely and effectively with other members of multidisciplinary research teams
• Desire to partner with healthcare systems, public health agencies, and/or community organizations to conduct research aimed at enhancing the health of the people of Texas and beyond
