The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Molecular Biology, invites applications for an Instructor (research track, nontenured) faculty position. The position requires a Ph.D. in Cell Biology or related field and two years of experience as an Assistant Instructor.
The investigator will study the mechanisms of myoblast fusion and muscle diseases using zebrafish embryonic muscle as a model. Primary research projects include: investigating the signal transduction pathways in zebrafish myoblast fusion, characterizing fusogenic proteins, establishing zebrafish modelsof human muscle diseases and human cancer. The Investigator is expected to design, plan, and conduct research to investigate developmental and disease mechanisms; maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP);
analyze experimental data using statistical and scientific software to draw conclusions; prepare and review scientific reports, manuscripts, grant proposals, and regulatory documentation; and present research findings at scientific conferences. The investigator will also develop and validate laboratory methods, assays, experimental procedures, and research protocols, and ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical, and institutional guidelines and adherence to biosafety standards. These studies and job duties require specialized expertise, such as zebrafish genetics, molecular biology, developmental biology, and cell biology.
