Summary

The Bartender is responsible for the service of alcoholic beverages, soft drinks and food in an efficient and professional manner using standards and procedures as set by the Hôtel Swexan training manual. The role requires excellent customer service skills, friendliness, and the ability to exceed guest expectations, ensuring a memorable experience for all guests.

Job Functions Operations
  • Assist other bartenders in monitoring and coordinating day‑to‑day operations during each shift, ensuring all FOH SOPs are followed.
  • Interact with staff at all levels in a fast‑paced environment, staying flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient under pressure.
  • Prepare drinks according to proper mix ratios and deliver them to guests pleasantly.
  • Ensure spotless service delivery to all guests at all times, meeting their needs and expectations to the highest detail.
  • Maintain the unit, ensuring all equipment, materials and utensils are in perfect working condition; report defects to the Restaurant Manager.
  • Greet guests warmly and provide a pleasant and comfortable experience.
  • Maintain current knowledge of bar inventory and mixed‑drink recipes.
  • Have a good understanding of wine, cocktails, and beers.
  • Stay informed of current events to engage guests in appropriate conversation.
  • Communicate effectively with the restaurant manager, servers, and host/hostess to ensure a seamless guest experience.
  • Engage guests with a pleasant greeting and take orders in accordance with HH bar service standards.
  • Must be TIPS certified or have a similar state certification.
  • Take orders from customers and servers when necessary.
  • Mix ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters to prepare cocktails.
  • Arrange bottles and glasses for an attractive display.
  • Slices and pints fruit for garnishing drinks.
  • Check food before serving to ensure correct appearance, temperature and portion size.
  • Replenish bar snacks such as chips, pretzels and nuts.
  • Follow HHG beverage standards and procedures using the Hôtel Swexan training manual.
  • Fill out beverage requisitions, par, and supply lists.
  • Have full knowledge of and comply with state liquor laws.
  • Perform all duties safely and monitor the actions of others.
  • Be pleasant, hospitable and attentive to guests always.
  • Maintain knowledge of HHG information to assist guests at any time.
  • Relay any guest complaints or comments to Manager.
  • Maintain the daily cleanliness of the bar before, during, and after shifts.
  • Sign out bar keys or transfer forms; turn in assigned keys after work.
  • Perform proper reconciliation of documentation.
  • Complete opening/closing duties (side work).
  • Engage guests in comfortable conversation without affecting service to others.
  • Ensure timely, efficient service while maintaining a comfortable pace.
  • Refresh drinks as needed, being mindful of guests’ intoxication levels; limit service if necessary.
  • Ensure timely and accurate order entry and payment collection.
  • Maintain quality and detail daily.
  • Work varying schedules to reflect business needs.
  • Ensure staff compliance with departmental and HHG policies.
  • Keep bar surfaces and prep areas clean, organized, and presentable.
  • Clear used items and wash thoroughly following HHG and food‑handling procedures.
  • Perform bar prep work, including cutting garnishes, stocking refrigerators and wells, and washing utensils.
  • Communicate changes or additions to assignments throughout the shift.
  • Ensure the bar area is stocked with specified tools, supplies, and equipment to meet demand.
Procurement and Deliveries
  • Check quality of deliveries and documentation.
