Overview

Position:
Sushi Chef
Job Type: Part-Time (3 days per week)

We are seeking a talented and creative Sushi Chef to join our team. As a Sushi Chef, you will be crucial in delivering exceptional sushi and creating a memorable dining experience for our customers. You will work three days a week, with one day dedicated to prepping and ensuring everything is ready for service.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and attention to detail.
  • Develop and contribute to the creation of innovative sushi rolls and dishes, incorporating seasonal and fresh ingredients.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of all sushi and food items served.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain inventory, ensuring fresh ingredients are always available and stored properly.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist with customer requests and offer recommendations on sushi menu items when needed.
  • Dedicate one day a week for prep work, including fish cutting, vegetable prep, and ensuring all sushi ingredients are prepped and ready for service.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a sushi chef or in a similar role, with solid knowledge of sushi techniques and preparation.
  • Strong creativity and a passion for culinary arts, particularly in sushi and Japanese cuisine.
  • Excellent knife skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate within a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time efficiently.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and ability to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work three days a week, including prep days.
