Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and well‑organized Part‑Time Food Services team member to join the Callier Child Development Program. This role is essential in supporting daily meal preparation and maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment. Key responsibilities include assisting with the preparation of nutritious meals and snacks, upholding high standards of hygiene and cleanliness, and ensuring full compliance with food safety regulations.
This temporary, nonbenefitseligible position is scheduled for 19.5 hours per week.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications- 1‑5 years of experience in food service, preferably in a childcare or school setting
- Serv Safe certification preferred, or willingness to obtain
- Experience with point‑of‑sale systems and basic computer/data entry skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records
- Flexibility and willingness to cross‑train in all areas of food service operations
- Commitment to providing exceptional customer service with a positive and respectful attitude
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in preparing and serving meals/snacks for children.
- Follow dietary guidelines and allergy restrictions.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, dishes, and utensils.
- Ensure proper food storage and labeling.
- Assist with inventory and supply management.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, designee or director.
Equipment and Supplies Used:
- Cleaning supplies and equipment
- Microwave, dishwasher, knives, and standard kitchen utensils
- Sanitation and disinfecting supplies
Physical Demands: The position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift up to 40 pounds, stoop, squat, bend, push/pull, hold, reach, twist, and stretch; move quickly in a fast‑paced environment; multitask and manage competing priorities; interact effectively with children, colleagues, and parents; demonstrate patience, emotional stability, and a positive attitude; maintain consistent mental alertness and agility throughout the workday.
Environmental Conditions: Employees may be exposed to cleaning chemicals, sanitation products, various smells, occasional contact with bodily fluids, illnesses or contagious diseases, hot and cold temperatures, outdoor conditions, UV/sun exposure, noise, crying, busy classroom environments, messy supplies, active children, and fluorescent lighting.
Additional Information- Must provide proof of a negative TB test.
- Must successfully pass all required criminal background checks.
- This is a non-benefits eligible position working 19.5 hours per week.
Work will be performed on‑site and in person at the Callier Center in Dallas, 1966 Inwood Rd, Dallas, TX 75235.
