Meat Market Manager - Joe V's Smart Shop - Dallas, TX & Surrounding Areas

Joe V's Smart Shop is a division of H‑E‑B, the largest independent food retailer in Texas. It operates 11 stores throughout the Greater Houston area and provides the lowest grocery prices, high wages, and significant savings to customers.

We are looking for an experienced leader to oversee the meat market department within our Smart Shop. The role includes managing people, inventory, financial performance, and customer satisfaction while maintaining the highest food safety standards.

• Use independent judgment in employment‑related decisions and business strategies.
• Manage staffing, training, and scheduling for the department area.
• Analyze financial and performance reports to identify opportunities and issues.
• Conduct detailed store and/or department walks and maintain work instructions.
• Monitor and report on inventory estimates and Direct Store Delivery (DSD) accounting.
• Maintain order and inventory levels, order product, and perform quality control.
• Act as a cross‑functional collaborator with the store leadership team.
• Support a total store mindset and participate in leadership meetings.
• Perform tasks specific to the area of focus—inventory flow, front end, meats, produce/bakery, or floor operations.

• Inventory Flow: Manage center store inventory workflow, assist with weekly merchandiser planning, and lead the inventory flow team.
• Front End: Oversee front‑end operations, ensure efficient throughput, and lead the team.
• Meat Market: Manage overall meat market operations, ensure food safety compliance, and possess knowledge of meat cutting equipment.
• Produce / Bakery: Manage produce and bakery operations, execute production plans, and ensure safety compliance.
• Floor (Total Store): Maintain proper store conditions, oversee supplies purchasing, safety, sanitation, pest control, and store recovery team.

• Completion of H‑E‑B's or JVSS's Management Training Program.
• Operational / Retail management experience.
• Leadership experience in a complex environment with multiple direct reports.
• Thorough understanding of retail accounting.
• Experience in ordering, inventory maintenance, and shrink control.
• Strong people‑leadership and ownership mentality.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Flexible schedule, including night shifts.

• Successful completion of JVSS or H‑E‑B School of Retail Management (SORM).

Physical demands include lifting moderate to heavy loads, bending, pushing / pulling, kneeling, squatting, standing, and walking for long periods of time.
