Position: Central Market, Operations Manager - DFW

Job Summary

Business Unit/Department Mission:
Responsible for driving the business plans and strategies developed by the General Manager into day‑to‑day implementation and action plans, while managing an optimal customer experience. Provides operational support, facility maintenance, and leadership in the absence of the GM and Directors.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions
  • General Store Operations
    • Make employment‑related and business decisions using independent judgment, effectively recommend such decisions including product and department strategies, hiring, promoting, disciplining, suspending, discharging, rewarding, or resolving partner‑related matters.
  • Oversee and direct workflow cross‑functionally across the entire store in the absences of GM and Directors.
  • Solve common and complex business, customer, and partner issues within established guidelines by recommending appropriate variances.
  • Recommend changes aligned with the business strategy for maintenance areas and across the entire store when appropriate.
  • Ensure business decisions align with GM and Central Market expectations.
  • Conduct store walks, take corrective action, elevate issues, and help ensure operational standards are met consistently.
  • Communicate closing and opening shift issues effectively.
  • Customer Service and Partner Interaction
    • Maintain a presence in the store, proactively build relationships with customers, and keep partner morale high and retention strong.
  • Manage store conditions (inside and outside) to create a safe, clean, and unobstructed shopping experience for customers and a good working environment for partners.
  • Respond to customer emergency issues, requests, and concerns, and resolve partner issues, requests, and concerns, including accidents and scheduling conflicts.
  • Maintenance and Food Safety & Sanitation
    • Supervise the maintenance team, including training new partners, coaching, evaluating performance, scheduling, and ensuring store conditions meet CM standards (e.g., bathroom, floor, trash).
    • Monitor conditions and report, document, and track all maintenance, facility, and equipment issues; act as point person for vendors and ensure approved work is completed.
    • Act as first responder to equipment issues, troubleshoot proactively, and perform root‑cause analysis when needed.
    • Call in any facility or equipment issues and decide if overtime is approved.
    • Maintain knowledge of systems to ensure cooler temperatures are appropriate (Micro Therm).
    • Address any customer incidents related to product safety or quality.
  • Loss Prevention
    • Initiate calls when necessary and act at the point of contract.
    • Act as point person for Department Managers who observe potential issues in their departments.
    • Prioritize potential issues and determine the appropriate course of action or inaction, based on parameters set by the GM.
    • Identify shrink opportunities and take immediate action or report to GM for appropriate action.
    • Maintain store security and handle issues as they occur, working with store security and local law enforcement to minimize theft and disruption.
    • Ensure all tills are secured in the Cash Control office daily.
  • Other
    • Prepare Capital Request for GM review.
    • Monitor store and company licenses and registrations to ensure they are updated.
    • Cover receiving back‑door security.
    • Manage expense and other duties necessary to ensure a clean, safe customer experience.
