Under direct supervision from the Bakery Manager, the Bakery Clerk provides customer service and conducts tasks within the bakery, including assisting customers with purchases, cleaning shelving and display cases, maintaining self‑serve displays, taking special orders, coordinating with the Baker on items to be baked or decorated, and helping with department cleaning by hosing floors with soap and water.
Responsibilities- Assist customers with bakery purchases and special orders.
- Clean, fill, and rotate self‑serve displays both front of the store and adjacent bakery area.
- Work with the Baker to determine items that need baking or decoration.
- Maintain department cleanliness by hosing floors with soap and water.
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 60 pounds, standing, walking, and kneeling as required.
- Read and write Spanish/English; interact with public and co‑workers.
- Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
- Present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and employees.
- Apply common sense to carry out written or oral instructions.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently 45 pounds, and occasionally 60 pounds.
- Basic PC/Outlook skills.
- Retail Management Certificate.
Food Handler Card or equivalent certification is required for all positions related to preparation, handling, and serving food.
